Another weekend has come and gone, and the husband is back at work. This weekend was a pretty relaxed weekend, meaning we didn’t do a whole lot. The husband studied quite a bit and I got some cleaning done around the house. On Saturday I went to book club (I actually didn’t read the book…), but it was still a lot of fun. I look forward to those times just hanging out with other spouses. I learn a lot from them, and sometimes I feel like I have a little bit of a heads up on what’s coming up next in the husband’s schedule. A few of them are also in the teaching profession, so it’s great to talk to them about their experiences and get the scoop on finding a teaching job while our husbands are in this phase of training (that will be another post, for another time).
Saturday night we watched Planes. I really enjoyed the movie, though I think I enjoyed the husband’s commentary a little bit more. He got all technical with the terminology, and was sure to point out the inaccuracies in the movie. I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it too, despite feeling the need to tell me when things were wrong, and “explain” things to me. I’ve been told I can get the same experience watching Top Gun (it’s up next on our list of movies to watch together).
On Sunday, the husband did more studying, and we celebrated Valentine’s Day by heading out to dinner. This Valentine’s Day was quite a bit different than last year. Last year, I spent the day with the best friend, and he spent the day catching up on his food intake and sleep. Though I had fun last year, I definitely enjoyed being able to spend it with him this year. Date nights with him are always a blast and always a guaranteed time for a lot of laughter.
Since Monday was President’s Day, the husband had the day off. My morning was spent volunteering with SOSA (Spouses of Student Aviators) at the Pensacola Museum of Art, where we were tasked with painting the gallery walls. I’m pretty much a pro at painting these days, so it went by pretty fast. I also met a couple of new spouses, which is always great! I love that there are so many opportunities to get out and meet people who are sharing some of the same experiences as me. It really makes the transition a lot easier, and definitely a lot more fun.
To finish off our long weekend, the husband did one more round of studying, and then we ended the night with a movie. I’d have to say, as far as weekends go, this one was pretty great. I think the cats even enjoyed themselves, 😉
