As mentioned in an earlier post, the best friend got to visit us this past weekend! We picked her up Saturday afternoon and headed out to brunch at The Leisure Club ($2 mimosas? Yes, please!). We then headed into Alabama so she could mark visiting a new state off of her resolution list.
On Sunday, we decided to check out the outlet mall in Destin. It was the perfect day to go since a lot of people were at home watching the Superbowl. I’m not saying the place was empty, but it was pretty close. I walked away with a cute baby outfit (not for me), and the best friend walked away with some really great dresses and a new coat! We then went to the Destin Beach to dip our feet in the water and watch the sunset.
We tried to visit the Pensacola Lighthouse on Monday, but they were doing construction on it, so we were unable to go in. We decided to bop on over to the Naval Aviation Museum instead to check out the planes. We wanted to do the guided tour, but the crowd for that was pretty large, so we navigated the museum on our own. I usually have my own “guide” (i.e. the husband or my dad) to talk to me about the different planes, but since they weren’t there, I tried my best to be the “guide” for us.
After checking out the museum, we decided to go to Flora-Bama, because what trip to Florida would be complete without Flora-Bama? We went for the food and stayed for the bingo. That’s right, bingo! Unbeknownst to us, it was bingo time at Flora-Bama (apparently they have free bingo four days a week)! We were joined at our table by Rob and Linda, a very sweet older couple who were retired Army. It was such a fun time to talk and laugh with the two of them. Did I mention I got to be the guest judge?! I got a free Bushwacker out of the deal.
We did remember to take a few pictures this weekend, but I’m sure we will take a lot more in July!
Scout enjoyed laying on the best friend’s suitcase. |
Don’t I look like a professional judge up there? 😉 |
Enjoying her first Bushwacker! |
