April. It’s here again and it signifies the beginning of the Month of the Military Child. I wrote a post about being a military brat here a couple of years ago, but this year (well last year too-but who has time to blog with a newborn) we get to celebrate with our own military child, Hudson!
Oh, what a precious gift he’s been handed, though I know he might not always think so. He gets to grow up watching his daddy serve our country (and fly a cool helicopter). He gets to grow up surrounded by friends who are family, different homes and places, and experiences other children won’t get. Let’s not forget he gets to grow up watching and listening to all of the helicopters fly by our house too, which is something he already really enjoys *sound of freedom baby*!
He will also grow up missing things. Missing family who don’t live nearby. Missing his daddy when he’s deployed/away on training or on duty (or really even a random Tuesday night because they have weird schedules) . Missing his friends when we (or they) move. Maybe even missing a “normal” childhood.
My hope though, is that he will embrace everything being a military brat has to offer. It truly is a wonderful thing! Happy Month of the Military Brat!
