April- Month of the Military Child (also commonly referred to as a “military brat”). I grew up as a military brat, and wouldn’t have changed a thing about the lifestyle I grew up in. I’m excited that our future children will also get to grow up as military brats. I know, I know, there are hardships that come along with the territory, but the good seriously outweighs any “bad” there may be.
Meet Rav
We finally did it y’all! We got a new car! We’ve been wanting to get a new car for quite some time now, and finally bit the bullet. The Camry has been a fantastic car for us (and still is), but within the past couple of months, we’ve had to change the alternator and the throttle body (thank goodness for a husband who can fix things). When those things go out, we have to rely on others to help us out. We are so thankful that we have wonderful friends living here in Florida that are willing to help us out! We decided though, that it would be a good time to get another car. We’ve been looking at the Toyota RAV4 for about a year now, so we already knew what we wanted when we went in. After test driving it, we were pretty set. All we had to do was pick out the color, but I already had that figured out too. 😉
Teaching
One of the difficult parts about being a military wife is finding a new job when you PCS. Being a teacher doesn’t lend itself for a smooth transition from one state to the other, and timing isn’t always on your side. There are always different qualifications to have and different licenses to obtain, and depending on the time of year, vacancies might not even be open. It’s even harder when your spouse is only here for training, and there’s not a guaranteed timeline. We could be here for the next whole school year, or we could be here until August.
Happy Birthday!
Today is the husband’s birthday! I won’t disclose his age, though truly, sometimes he doesn’t even remember how old is he (see his birthday “cake”), but he’s another year older, we do know that! I’m so happy we got to spend his birthday together this year, even though he’s not one to make a big deal of his birthday. I’m sure almost anything beats last year though, when he spent the day doing medical and dental stuff for TBS.
Part 2
The husband is off getting his hair cut so I figured it was a good time to start on Part 2, though I’m not sure it will get posted today (Sunday). You may be thinking to yourself, “I thought you gave the husband haircuts?” Well folks, I did…and now I don’t. The first time it worked like a charm. The second time, I apparently had forgotten everything I had learned. The third time we were hopeful that the second time was just a fluke…it was not. They should give military spouses lessons on how to cut hair if you ask me…
