I’m back! The past couple of weeks have been so busy, and obviously I haven’t posted during that time, but I promise I had a good excuse!! I’ve spent the last couple of weeks seeing so many wonderful people, and doing so many fun things. This post seemed a little daunting, so I decided to split it into two parts. I don’t want you to be too bored all at once! 😉
Rock Climbing
Y’all, I had a flashback to my childhood on Friday night. The husband and I were headed to base to watch the new Star Wars movie, and I forgot my ID card. Half way to base, I had the sudden realization that I hadn’t grabbed my ID, and turned to the husband to let him know. All I could think about was forgetting it as a kid, and not remembering until we were at the gate, as dad was asking for our ID cards. Though not as “terrifying” as it was as a kid, it was still a pretty big inconvenience. I’m sure that it “won’t happen again”…for at least the next couple of months anyway.
API Graduation
The husband graduated API today! I don’t have any pictures from his “graduation” because I didn’t go. It was more a of a “here’s this piece of paper saying you can move on” kind of thing. Regardless of how big of a deal it really wasn’t, I’m still very proud that he is on to the next phase. After graduation, he came home to change uniforms (no flight suit for a little bit), and then headed to check in at Whiting Field to begin all of the paperwork for Primary. I’ll have to update more about what goes on in Primary later on since the husband is currently sleeping…
Storms in the South
We’re not in Kansas anymore, but we might as well be! I assumed when we moved to Florida, we’d be putting tornadoes behind us, but I assumed wrong. Last night the weather got crazy, and there were a couple of tornadoes near us. One of the neighborhoods that got hit pretty hard, is the neighborhood that our friends live in. They were lucky enough not to receive any damage (except for loss of power), and we are so glad they’re safe! The rest of the neighborhood wasn’t as lucky though. Thankfully there were no fatalities, but homes were ruined and lives were uprooted. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with those people right now.
Flight Suit Friday
It’s official- the husband is now allowed to wear his flight suit! On Friday, we celebrated Flight Suit Friday. The guys got to wear their flight suits and show off their class patch (each class gets to design their own patch, and then they each get one to temporarily wear on their suits- they also hang one up at the Officers’ Club). It was fun to celebrate another accomplishment, and to know the husband won’t have any studying to do for a little while.
