These past two weeks, Hudson and I have been keeping ourselves pretty busy with play dates and photoshoots (and some major spring cleaning before it’s too late to even call it that). Last Saturday we even found ourselves playing in the rain!
It was raining pretty good at the time we would normally go outside to play (i.e. the part of the day when you won’t die after 5 minutes in the heat), so I decided to that it would be good for us to get out and just play in the rain. That turned in to playing in the muddy water and y’all, I didn’t even have an internal struggle with myself this time.
I’ll be honest, it’s hard for me to let my son get messy. I’m doing it, but it’s hard. I have to remember that little boys NEED to get messy. They NEED to play in mud. They NEED to pick up bugs (Lord, help me!). They NEED adventures.
As both mom and dad sometimes, I’m trying my best to give him all of those things, and, not to toot my own horn, but I have to say I’ve been rocking it lately (toot toot!). I know messes can be cleaned up and the joy on Hudson’s face is always worth the mess. He had so much fun splashing around and playing with the water and I have a feeling this will the be the norm on our summer rainy days!
