We’re not in Kansas anymore, but we might as well be! I assumed when we moved to Florida, we’d be putting tornadoes behind us, but I assumed wrong. Last night the weather got crazy, and there were a couple of tornadoes near us. One of the neighborhoods that got hit pretty hard, is the neighborhood that our friends live in. They were lucky enough not to receive any damage (except for loss of power), and we are so glad they’re safe! The rest of the neighborhood wasn’t as lucky though. Thankfully there were no fatalities, but homes were ruined and lives were uprooted. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with those people right now.
We got lucky where we are. There was a large tornado about 3 miles from our home, but it ended up moving east instead of towards us. I’m not a very calm person in these situations (meaning I get really nervous and anxious), so I was happy to have the husband around to reassure me. I love a good storm, but when the word “tornado” starts getting thrown around, I’m out! The husband, on the other hand, kept commenting on how he wished he was on “Storm Patrol”, and started reminiscing about his scout camp days. We even stood outside watching the storm for a little bit (we may live in Florida, but we’re still from the Midwest…). I think the only thing he hates about storms is resetting the clocks when the power goes out. Ours are still a couple of hours off, but only because we wanted to make sure we were done losing power… You believe us, right?? 😉
